Ubuntu OS for Smartphones

About a year will see the world's first smartphones that will run a mobile version of Ubuntu. Canonical company called these devices Superphone.During the presentation, the developers have introduced Galaxy Nexus mobile version of Ubuntu. The following week, Canonical will release a firmware for this smartphone.

According to the developers, mobile version of the Ubuntu installation is possible on most modern Android smartphone. It must be equipped with a dual-core processor, 512 MB RAM and a screen resolution of 800 × 400 pixels. If producers will find it necessary, they can without difficulty Ubuntu release a firmware for its Android devices.

The folks at Canonical have said that Ubuntu uses the same drivers as Android, just do not use the Java virtual machine. According to the journalists, who were acquainted with the new mobile operating system, the Galaxy Nexus that works pretty fast.

Ubuntu touch interface differs significantly from known mobile platforms. This is not normal screen unlock and smartphones do not need the "Home", "Back", etc..
